….. and the dead in Christ shall rise first

1 Thessalonians 4:13 -17….. and the dead in Christ shall rise first This was written by Paul to the believers that were saved and around Jesus time and after. They were having some of their brothers and sisters martyred (or dying of natural causes) and were beginning to wonder what was going to happen to those that had already died. v.13 “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.” The question then, are those that are “in Christ” a reference to the bride of Christ (church), or all believers that have died? I’ve always been under the understanding that it meant all believers from Adam to present. But was looking at it recently, and it seems to imply the Church. The Church (Bride) is Ruptured [caught up]. 

Reminder: 3 groups of people in Heaven. 
1. Jews(that believe)   [Hidden treasure]  Matthew 13:44
2. The Church (believers)    [Pearl]  Matthew 13:45
3. Those that make it through the tribulation (believers)  [The Net/Fish]  Matthew 13:47-50
