What is the purpose of a parable?
"Purpose of a parable is to reveal Truth to those that want to know, and to conceal to those that do not want to know".
v.13
Jesus Calms The storm, (and the storm within His disciples)
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
I'm reminded of a time in my life when I was around 10 years old and was in a bus that got hijacked. We were traveling at night in a bus [União Cascavel] coming back from a church conference our family had attended about 86 miles north from Cuiabá MT (Brazil). I got up to go to the restroom and the door was locked. I waited for a while but finally gave up and went and sat back down. Shortly after I sat down the man that was in the bathroom came out and rushed to the front of the bus acting as if he was sick and needed the bus driver to stop. As soon as he persuaded the driver to stop there was another man that was waiting on the road side, he boarded the bus with guns. They forced the driver to drive into a remote part of the jungle off on a dirt path where more guys were waiting in a pickup truck. They ransacked the bus taking anything they wanted. They let the air out of the tires of the bus then made there get-a-way. The whole time the words to this Sunday School song I knew kept coming to my mind, never before had the words become so real to me.

Jesus marveled (was amazed)
Only 2 times in the Bible does it ever say “Jesus marveled/was amazed”Matthew 8:10(Marveled at the faith of a Gentile) and,
Mark 6:6 (Marveled at the lack of faith of the Jews).

kingdom of God
While reading the bible, I like to challenge myself so that it makes me mind go on a quest. I was reading and came across (Jesus talking to his disciples) ” some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come to power” Mark 9:1(also similar in Matthew 16:28 and Luke 9:27). A commentary I read said it was the transfiguration, I didn't quite agree, because of some of the other passages I looked at (if it was just the transfiguration, what disciple died before the kingdom came?). I'm gonna keep looking into this. As of right now I'm leaning towards kingdom, making Jesus King, Lord over our lives (this incorporating: believing, confessing, accepting, sanctification, taking up our cross to die daily, so that He is all that matters).
Here are some of the notes I collected: kingdom of God: within (among) you - Luke 17:21; hard for the rich to enter-Luke 18:24; belongs to such as children and babies - Luke 18:15-17; for the poor in spirit-Matthew 5:3; not in word, but in power-1 Corinthians 4:20; is like leaven-Luke 13:21(this one has me a little perplexed due to leaven is usually mentioned as a bad thing in scripture). Grain of mustard seed-Luke13:19; not for the unrighteous-1 Corinthians 6:9. .....So another thought, when Jesus was praying ” thy kingdom come” he was referring to his own death and resurrection that would provide a way for us to accept Him and the Holy Spirit could then live inside of us. Therefore, the kingdom of God would be in us (the believers, the church, the bride of Christ). Some how I feel that this its only a part of something that has many layers to where we cannot put our finger on it because of what Luke 17:20-21 says .
