-----Romans 1-----

Idolatry leads to immorality

 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

 Isaiah 5:20
 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Lovers of themselves, there own ideas, their own lifestyle, more than God

 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

 2 Timothy 3:4
 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

-----Romans 2-----

-----Romans 3-----

No Good Man on earth

 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

 Ecclesiastes 7:20
 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Propitiation
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

 -----Romans 4-----

-----Romans 5-----

1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

2 Corinthians 6:3-10
3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:
But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
By pureness, by knowledge, by long suffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

-----Romans 6-----

-----Romans 7-----

 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

Past - God's Plan for the Jews

 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Yeah, Um.... let me take this time to remind you NOT to use this scripture (Romans 8:28) as a source of encouragement towards someone that has lost a loved one. Had some people use it after I lost my mother and brother. Needless to say, silence and a hug would have gone further in comforting than nailing that verse to my forehead.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great verse, with lots of great applications, I personally don't think it is the best choice to use under those circumstances.

Rapture

25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Once the Church/Bride is raptured Israel will start to see Jesus Christ as The Messiah.

-----Romans 12-----

  "be not conformed to this world"

 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Does Contemporary Music and life styles fall in this category?

God's will
Got to partake in a great lesson tonight, here are a few of the notes:

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. [ESV]

Secret Decretive   [Unclear]  Deuteronomy 29:29
                                                    “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are                                                revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
               vs

   Perceptive          [Clear]  Clearly revealed in Scripture (Sanctification)

Example of Secret Decretive: The Rapture (Matthew 24:36)
Example of Perceptive Will: Keep His Percepts (Psalms 119:1-8, Proverbs 3:5-6)

When faced with Decisions:

1. Matters of righteousness
      Right and Wrong, No grey area, scripture is very clear on the subject.
      Example: Flee immorality,
      What to Do: Study the scriptures, saturate your life with God's word.

2. Matters of Good Judgment
       May seem neutral in scripture, never the less important.
       Example: To marry, or not to marry (If marry than decision 1 goes into effect)
       What to Do: Search scriptures, seek Godly counsel.

3. Matters of Triviality
        Don't waste your time or energy on trivial matters.
        Example: Where should I eat Wendy's or McDonald's.
        What to Do: Don't let this kind of decision making cause anxiety or steal you of joy.

It is less important what path you take in life,
It is more important how you walk that path.

Hebrews 12:1-2
 1Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. [ESV]

21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

-----Romans 13-----

-----Romans 14-----

  1 Corinthians 8 is good to read with Romans 14

 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

Deaconess?

What about Phebe mentioned in Romans 16:1

I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:
The word "Servant" used there in the Greek is the transliterated word "diakonos" where we get the word Deacon from.

Phebe means "Radiant"

So are Deaconess Biblical?

Who is Rufus ?

13 Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.

His Dad carried the Cross of Jesus Christ

 Mark 15:21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

Romans 16:17-18

 Avoid those that deliberately go against the Doctrine

 17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
