Thus saith the Lord, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.    Jeremiah 22:30

Blood Curse placed on his seed. Remember  "her seed" in Genesis 3:15? It is in reference to a virgin birth
Jesus Christ was not from the blood line of Joseph.

4 Women mentioned in the Genealogy of Jesus (Embarrassing to Jewish religious system)
1. Tamar [Genesis 38] v.3 - Family Responsibility - Deception/illegitimate child

King Herod was an Edomite, descendent of Esau (Arab Nation)

  -----Matthew 3-----

We are witnesses not lawyers we are to testify to who Jesus is and has done for us.

Why was JESUS baptized ?
  1. Affirmation of John’s ministry (I approve of his service for me).
  2. Identification with us personally.
  3. Declaration to His Father Prophetically (1.His submission to the Fathers plan-He came to die). Roman 6 Baptism is a picture of death and burial. 2. Expectation of the Fathers Power – Resurrection).
  4. Illustration of the reality of the Trinity. Holy Sprit in the form of a Dove, Voice from Heaven” This is my Son” .

Noah (man of faith)> (Means: Comforter) Noah and the flood is a picture of Baptism - 1 peter 3:21
Dying to the sin around us > failed after he was saved – Sinfulness reemerged.
Jonah (the prophet)> Means: Dove
Dying to the Selfishness with us > After He failed got mad - Selfish resurfaced.

GRACE = Unmerited, Undeserved and Unearned favor

  -----Matthew 4-----

Temptation of Jesus
found in Matthew4:1-11 Mark 1:12-13 and in Luke 4:1-13

Thought it is worth mentioning that the temptation/trial came after Jesus was baptized.

First Temptation       v.2-v.4      Lust of the flesh (sensual,impurity,food,drink,etc..)
Second Temptation   v.7-v.7     Pride of life  (self-importance)
Third Temptation     v. 8-v.11    Lust of the eyes  (power, wealth, success, etc..)

1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Jesus response was the Word, because we is the WORD (John 1:1)
When you squeeze a soaked sponge, whatever it is filled with comes out.
When we are squeezed through trials/temptations what we are filled with comes out. Ephesians 5:8,
We need to fill our lives with God's Word. Joshua 1:8, Psalms 1:2

-------  Reminder: -------
Do not pretend that satan doesn’t exist.
Do not become so conscious of satan that he receives more credit than he deserves.

  -----Matthew 5-----

Beatitudes
Bea in Latin means "Happy"

Jesus is talking to His disciples(believers) in this passage, not the crowd.

1  Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.

And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

If you look at these trying to find and claim one as yours, you are missing the point of the message. You should allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life in a way that as you are being sanctified here on earth every one of these slowly become prevalent in your life so that when others look at you, they do not see you, they see Christ living through you. Notice that in context the very next message after this goes right into the believers being the "salt" and the "light" , we should be Jesus to the world.

Be one among the blessed.......   so that God will be glorified through your life.
Reminder: some of these are not going to be fulfilled until we are with Him.

I can't help when I study this section to jump over to Matthew 23 and read about "Woe to the Scribes and Pharisees" the flip side of those that think they are religious, that they've got this.

Also a condensed version of these can be found in Luke 6:17-26 "Blessings and Woes".

3
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
--Our attitude towards ourselves in which we feel our need and admit it.
Poor in spirit = Spiritual poverty, realizing that with out Christ you are spiritually bankrupt.
Example: Luke 18:9-14 The Pharisee and the tax collector.

Blessed are those who mourn,
    For they shall be comforted.
--Our attitude towards sin, a true sorrow for sin.
Those who mourn, yield to Holy Spirit and Repent, as we see our sinful state without Him. The Holy Spirit "The Comforter" will comfort as you surrender to His will.

Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
--Our attitude towards others; we are teachable;we do not defend ourselves when we are wrong.
Meek: power under control, humble.

We should be more like Jesus, come along side him in the field of life as mentioned in Matthew 11:29

Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle[meek] and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    For they shall be filled.
--Here our attitude towards God is expressed;we receive His righteousness by faith because we ask for it..
Hunger and thirst for righteousness: A strong desire, can't live without.
Long to study learn from the Word of God, looking for the day in which He will make all things new, set all things right.

Revelation 21:5   Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me,“Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

Blessed are the merciful,
    For they shall obtain mercy.
-- We have a forgiving spirit and love others
Are we showing mercy? are we demonstrating what we were given?

Luke 16:1-13 "the parable of the shrewd steward" displays this well.

James 2:13  For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Blessed are the pure in heart,
    For they shall see God.
--We keep our lives and motives clean; holiness is happiness to us: no substitutes
Pure in Heart:Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean[pure] heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Here you have David that is described in  Acts 13:22 as a man after God's own heart.

Reminder: In Jeremiah 17:9 it says “The heart is deceitful above all things,And desperately wicked;Who can know it?

That is why we must have a NEW heart (be born again/saved).
Ezekiel 36:26    I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
We should also strive do have a pure heart, a heart like God. Not in a self-righteous way, but rather in a way and with the mindset that we are portraying Him to the world around us. Showing in love how His Love has changed us. That would  include how you react to jokes at work of with "friends" that are dishonoring to Him.

1 Peter 1:16 because it is written, Be holy, for I am holy.”
Leviticus 11:44 For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth.

Matthew 23:27-28
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
--We should bring peace, between people and God and between those who are at odds with each other

We should point others to God so that they may know Peace, and live at peace towards each other.

Hebrew 12:14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

Philippians 4:7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
--All who live godly lives will suffer persecution
2 Tim 2:12    Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Interesting note: here it says you will be listed with the prophets.

I think along with this passage its good to reflect upon the fruit of the Spirit:
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Turn the other cheek

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Every time I come across this verse I'm reminded of a time in my early teens when I lived in Várzea Grande, Brazil. One day I was riding my bike at a very high rate of speed around the corner and a guy caring another man on his bike turned right in front of me. The impact was so strong that it bent the other guys front tire to where it would not turn on bike, and threw both guys off bike causing some scraps and bruises. The driver of the other bike started cussing at me and came up wanting to fight me. Just then the elementary school let out, so a huge crowd of kids started to gather shouting "fight" (which didn't help the situation any). The guy said I was going to pay and kicked me in the leg in a failed attempt to bring me down, but I didn't fight back, instead I told him that I would pay, and we could work something out as far as me paying for damages to his bike (which seemed to take him by surprise). I informed my dad who was just a couple of buildings away what was going on and walked with guy to bicycle shop to get estimate on repairs. While walking with the guy to the shop, his demeanor changed, he apologized for kicking me, and asked if I was a christian, and where I went to church. I was able to briefly share with him what I hope was a seed planted in his heart.

  -----Matthew 6-----

Lead us not into temptation

**In the Lord's prayer...” Lead us not into temptation”... As a father do you want to lead you kid into temptation? Is it a test so that God can be glorified thru us? Why then should we ask Him not to lead us into something, if He is doing it for His glory? Thoughts in mind: the temptation of Jesus. And the trials of Job.**

After much searching here is what i came to regarding "temptation" In the Lord's prayer
(Matthew 6:9-13 speaking to the multitude, and in Luke 11:1-13 speaking to His disciples)..
” Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one”... temptation....meaning "testing".

It is all about humility.

Yes it is through testing that we grow, but when YOU WANT to be tested, pride [evil] can creep in. God does not tempt us(James 1:13) . Proverbs 16:18 - Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. So in essence, we are humbly asking God not to let us be tested, so that we are not leaving the door open for pride(which was the fall of the evil one{Lucifer} mentioned in Isaiah 14:13-14 and Ezekiel 28:16-17 ).

Matthew 6:9-13 The Perfect Prayer (The Lord’s Prayer) > To the multitudes

Luke 11:1-13 > To the disciples

Prayer needs to be complete and concise. Not meaninglessly but meaningfully

  1. Concerns God’s Person v.9 Your
Relationship “adopted”[Father].
Reverence [In heaven Hallowed (Make Holy) be thy Name=Nature]
  1. Concerns God’s Purpose v.10
Purpose of the prayer is to get you in Harmony with His not the other way around

  1. Concerns God’s Provision v.11
Give “us” Not me. Bread Prayer (intimacy) is a greater need than what you are praying for.
  1. Concerns God’s Pardon v.12

  2. Concerns God’s Protection v.13a
James 1:13 “Temptation” is “Testing “ It is all about Humility If through a testing you grow but if you want to be tested, pride can creep in.

God does not tempt us but he allows us to be tempted.

  1. Concerns God’s Preeminence v.13b

Fasting

Why fast?

1. Direction (knowing God's will)
2. Liberation (against sin, temptation, or evil oppression)

 Treasures

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Your treasure reveals where your hearts is

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

What do we spend our time, our talents, and our treasures on? Where do we invest our treasures?

First 3 miracles of Jesus

First 3 miracles of Jesus he showed grace to the outcast. 3 classes of people that were looked down on in Israel in that time:

1. Smitten by God [Leprous] - Matthew 8:1-4  [Leviticus 14   Leprosy > cleansing]
2. Gentile [Centurion servant] - Matthew 8:5-13
3.Women [Peter’s wife’s mother] - Matthew 8:14-15

Isaiah 1:5-6 Leprosy is a type of sin
Begins beneath the surface of the skin (Lev 13)
It spreads over the body
It defiles the person and causes them to live separate (isolation)

Jesus marveled (was amazed)

Only 2 times in the Bible does it ever say “Jesus marveled/was amazed”

Matthew 8:10(Marveled at the faith of a Gentile) and,

Mark 6:6 (Marveled at the lack of faith of the Jews).

Bethsaida (Means: The House of fishing)

v.22 "But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead".
Let the Dead bury the dead > “Let no relationship stand in the way”

Jesus sleeping in the boat (tiered, showing His humanity)
Jesus rebukes the storm (Shows His Deity)

Jesus refers to Himself more than 80 times in the New Testament as the “Son of man” showing His humanity to us.

Matthew 8:28-34
v. 29 “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”   [The demons know that judgment is coming to them].

James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

 Don’t tell anyone

Why did Jesus often say “don’t tell anyone about this” in reference to Jesus healing someone?
He did not want them to focus more on the miracle than the messenger.

The 2 blind men were seeing something that others were not ….“Son of David” (they understood that he was the messiah). Jesus told them not to tell anyone, possible for their own protection. Since He was not yet come as King.

Man is sins because he is born a sinner
He is not a sinner because he sins.

Prophecies that the Messiah would perform miracles
Isaiah 30, 35, 53 - Malachi 4

This deserves more digging .

Matthew 13:38  The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

Matthew 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Children of the kingdom ?

-----Matthew 9-----

-----Matthew 10-----

Beelzebub [Lord of the flies] (Philistine god)

v.32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.    REMINDER: Peter denied Jesus.

(This is not dealing with salvation). This has to do with the blessings that Jesus will ask in intersession to God for us, to give us.

39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

If you are living for yourself you will lose it. If you are living for Him you will find your life(the secret of life=die to self, life for Jesus you will live happy).

First 10 chapters show Jesus as King (Revelation of the King).
His Person was revealed  -- The King
His prophet (John the Baptist) was heralding the way
His Principles (were given to us) the Sermon on the Mount 5,6,7
His Power demonstrated (10 miracles) in chapters 8 and 9
His People (chapter 10) The 12 ambassadors sent out [Apostles] with the message of the kingdom.

Temple was destroyed in A.D. 70 by Titus (Romans) burnt the temple, destroyed the records. Jesus is the Only One that can trace His Genealogy to David.

-----Matthew 11-----

John The Baptist
“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the LORD Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them.
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things,” says the LORD Almighty.
“Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.
“See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.” (Malachi 4:1-6)

Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest.
Exodus 5:9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
Isaiah 1:4 > Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. (sin makes us tired)  Egypt = World.

-----Matthew 12-----

  Sabbath

Colossians 2:16-17   Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Deuteronomy 23:25 When thou comest into the standing corn of thy neighbour, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thine hand; but thou shalt not move a sickle unto thy neighbour's standing corn.
Matthew 12:5 Haven’t you heard (Read your bible)? 1 Samuel 21 The David ate the showbread from the Temple?

Don’t you know History? David was being rejected as King, Jesus was being rejected as King.
Don’t you know the Law? The Priest worked twice as hard on the Sabbath.
Don’t you know the Word Prophetically? Hosea 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Prophet, Priest, and King  Anointed with oil they broke the Sabbath  (Christ means: Messiah, Anointed one)
I am the King, The great High Priest, The Prophet of God, The Anointed One, The Messiah.
He is the Lord of the Sabbath, the fulfillment of the Sabbath.
Matthew 12:17 > Isaiah 42

Reed grew near swamps, Reeds where used to make musical instruments. Bruised (bent) reed cannot be used for a musical instrument.

Flax used for making wick for an oil lamp, Smoking flax that don’t ignite or burn bright.

 Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost/Spirit

Mentioned in: Matthew 12:31-32; Mark 3:28-30; Luke 12:10

Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. v.31

 Q.What is it?
If you willfully reject the leading of the Holy Spirit, which leads you to salvation, that only comes through Jesus Christ then you could never receive the forgiveness, and be saved.

Q.Can a Christian do it?
 No.

Q.and/or Does our testimony cause, or influence other to do it?
Sadly, I think that it is possible to quench the Spirit [1 Thessalonians 5:19] if we are not walking in harmony.

Genesis 6:3  And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

1 Kings 10 -  Queen of the south
Greater than Jonah
Greater than Solomon

My Mother, my brothers?

Matthew 12:47-48
47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

Matthew 13:54-56
54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

Psalms 69:8
I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.

-----Matthew 13-----

Why in Parables ?

10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Parables are not there to make it clearer for the unbeliever.
It was His way of shielding those without the Holy Spirit from a harsher punishment since they would be the ones that would crucified Him  . It was a sign of mercy from our Lord.

"seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand."

Isaiah 6:9-10
And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

 Luke 12:47-48
47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Children of the kingdom

Pay attention to: ”children of the kingdom” in these 2 verses.

 Matthew 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

Matthew 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Gonna need to do more digging.....

kingdom of heaven is like unto....

3 major aspects of the Kingdom are mentioned in these 3 parables. (3 categories of people)

TREASURE: Israel/Jewish Nation

Matthew 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

PEARL:  Saved Gentiles (Pearls are formed in the Sea – Sea is a representation of the gentiles.)

Matthew 13:45-46
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

GOOD FISH: Saved during the Tribulation/End times

Matthew 13:47-48

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

The word parable means “to cast alone side”
Using a story to give understanding to a truth
The Lost and the Lazy don’t understand parables.
Parables are for those that are interested in the Truth.

The happy man is not the one who has the most, but is the one who needs the least.

Things that the Bible identifies as fruit
1. Holiness > Romans 6:22
2. Soul Winning > Romans 1:13
3. Fruit of the Spirit > Galatians 5
4. Giving financially > Romans 15
5. Good Works > Colossians 1:10
6. Praise Worship > Hebrews 13:15

Mustard seeds do not grow into trees that support birds.
Jesus is talking about abnormal growth.
Birds in the Bible always speak of evil.
Leaven is used 98 times in the Bible and is always referred to as evil.

Hard Soil [was not accepted into the ground, so the birds ate it] (birds=evil entities)

Shallow ground (stony ground) [grows fast but has no roots when tested]

Ground infested with thorns [suffocated by the cares of this world/to busy]

Good Soil [ready, ground has been worked prior to seeding, becomes productive/fruitful]

Speaks to us as hears of the word (be careful how you hear the word)
Speaks to us as shares of the word

In this world you will have troubles and tribulation
Paul beaten
Hebrews, sawed asunder
Prosperity teaching?

v.37
Sows the good seed is the Son of Man (Jesus)
The field is the world
The good seed are the children of the Kingdom (wheat)
Tares (bearded darnel) are the children of the wicked one (satan)
Sows the bad seed (tares) is the devil
The harvest is the end of the World
The reapers are the angels.

The scribes originally were from Ezra’s days, they were Truth seekers. Jesus said to be more like them (truth seekers).

If you only draw from the Old (past) you become narrow.(Not open to what the Lord is doing presently).
If you only draw from the New (present) you will be shallow (moving, but they don’t understand the History, the heritage, the continuity of what God is doing in the kingdom).

Draw from the Old (past [heritage/history]) and the New (present) to become rich
The one that can draw from the old and the new will become the rich man.

Sin is not bad because God forbid it,
It is forbidden because it is bad.

Jesus was not trying to destroy her, but to develop her (Make her faith manifested).

2 Samuel 6:14  And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.   [David removed his position robe (as king) to worship God].

Daniel 9 - Signs of the times

“Show us a sign”….. Signs don’t convict, they addict.

v.6 Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”
Leaven of the Pharisees is legalism (We must follow these rules/traditions to get to God)
Leaven of the Sadducees liberalism (wealthy we don’t need God, lets rationalize)

Matthew 16:13-20 Was not a emotional response due to some miracle. It was a revelation trough a deep relationship. “I will build my church upon that rock” (not on an emotional resonse, but on a deeper walk/relationship with Jesus).

Deuteronomy 32:31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

Who do you say Jesus is?

-----Matthew 16-----

18. And I also say to you that you are Peter(small rock), and on this rock(Big Rock) I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

1st time in the New testament where the word “church” is mentioned.

Building churches on one of these 4 is not good.
1. John the Baptist –We will set the standard. Try to clean the fish before they catch the fish.
2. Elijah – Miracles, signs and wonders, fire from heaven, Power.
3. Jeremiah – Reach out evangelisticly, weeping over the lost
4. that prophet – Teaching center, educate people. Know everything about the bible

Build the church upon Christ.

The cross leads to the crown.

All 3 times that Jesus took Peter James and John it was related to death.
1st time(Luke 8)Jesus took Peter, James and John into the house of Jairus – Victory over death.
2nd time Jesus took into the garden of Gethsemane - Submission to death
3rd time (Matt 17) Jesus is glorified in death (Luke’s gospel says they were talking about His death).

James would be the 1st of the disciples to be put to death (sawed in half long ways)
John would be one of the last disciples to die (he was tortured but didn’t die)
Peter would be crucified upside down (he was told by Jesus that peter was to be crucified).

-----Matthew 17-----

V10-11 Elijah should come before the Messiah - Malachi 4
Elijah will come before the 2nd coming, but the spirit of Elijah has come in John the Baptist.

Exodus 30 buy protection with ½ shackle of silver.

27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Only miracle Jesus ever did with Money Coin in Fish mouth.
Only miracle Jesus did for Himself (to get peter off the Hook)
Only miracle Jesus did with only 1 fish

Last miracle Jesus did before his death was to put the ear back on someone that His disciple (Peter) had hurt with the sword.

Judas Iscariot was known for taking money from the bag. (He was in charge of the money)
John 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

-----Matthew 18-----

Two or three are gathered together in my name

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." [Jesus Speaking in Matthew 18:20] I've heard this mentioned from people before, where they say [in regards to this passage] "one cannot by gathered together by them self that is why He says 2 or 3". But, In my opinion i think that they miss the point. While studying the O.T. in Deuteronomy 19:15b it says: "at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established". I know that the context here in Deuteronomy is more in accusing and sentencing someone to death. But i think that the idea holds true that when 2 or 3 are gathered their witness holds true. Therefore, they can be credible witnesses to the Fact that He is present.

The word sincere means “with out wax”. Wax was used to hid cracks in pottery so that they could be sold.

18:6 offend one of these little ones  offend= “Thrown off course”

Jesus Curses the Fig Tree

18 In the morning, as he was returning to the city, he became hungry. 19 And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once.

20 When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?” 21 And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. 22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

Jesus Curses the Fig Tree  (Mark's Account in Mark 11:12-14)

12 On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. 13 And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 And he said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it.

The Lesson from the Withered Fig Tree

20 As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. 21 And Peter remembered and said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.” 22 And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. 23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

Jesus public ministry Begins with 8 Blessings in the beatitudes (Matthew 5)
1. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
2. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
3. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
4. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
5. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
6. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
7. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
8. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
9. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Jesus public ministry Ends with 8 Woes (Matthew 23)

1. But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
2. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
3. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
4. Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
5. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
6. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
7. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
8. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous

Signs of the End

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

3 separate questions where asked here in this verse

This is why this passage is directed to Israel.

Winter because it is difficult to travel. Snow, mud, and Ice

v. 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand :)

        3 groups in order

1 – v.  1-14 As it relates to the Nations
2 – v. 15-36 As it relates to Israel specifically, Jewish people particularly.
3 – v. 37-42 As it relates to the Church (Believers).

Abomination of desolation mentioned in Daniel has 2 parts.

Daniel 11:31 Already happened in 170 B.C.  When Assyrian King Antiochus Epiphanes  [Epiphanes: means the shining one] referred to himself as Zeus in the Flesh. He slaughtered a pig on the altar in the Temple and killed many Jews. ……This triggered the Maccabean Revolt.

 Daniel 9:27
2 Thessalonians 2:4  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

He will demand to be worshiped (his image be worshipped) and for everyone to take the mark of the beast. He will create a new monetary system. This is directed to the Jews because the Church is not on the earth (ruptured).

Zechariah 13:8-9

And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

Zechariah 14:5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
Azal is also another name for petra
Daniel 11:41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.
Matthew 24:22 - And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Isaiah 45:4 - Isaiah 65:9 - Romans 11:28  The people of Israel His elect not just Christians.
There are 3 groups in the bible that are called His elect:
1.      The Church(Christians)
2.      Israel (Isaiah 45)
3.       Saved during the Tribulation
v.28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.(KJV)

TRUE Worship often comes through breaking

Often when you are Broken
Often Costly
Often misunderstood
Often Beneficial (Takes on the same fragrance as Jesus) Her hair smelled like Jesus feet.

You become like what you worship.

Every time Mary is mentioned in the Bible she is at the feet of Jesus
Mark 10 (Mary and Martha)- Found her blessing at His feet
John (Lazarus death) - Brought her burden to His feet
Matthew 26 (House of Simon) – She gave her best at His feet

Men didn’t carry water jugs typically back then. That was a woman’s job.

  How did Judas Die?

How did Judas Die?

Hung himself >> Matthew 27:3-5

Or

Fell, body burst open, intestines spilled out >> Acts 1:16-18

Or.....
was it a combination of a failed attempt to hang himself, that he then fell to his death below?

Saints which slept arose?

While studying today i came across something I hadn't noticed before.. In Matthew 27 when Jesus yielded up the ghost,

1.the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom
2.the earth did quake
3. and the rocks rent(cried out)
4.the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose.....I remember all that. But what I did not notice was in verse 53. "And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many." [after His resurrection] I thought it was at the time of His death. If we look at 1 Corinthians 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. Thought that was interesting.

Deuteronomy 19:16-19  If someone suffers from your lie you must suffer the same fate.

5. Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

6. But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

7. And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

8. But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

9. Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.

10. Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
