 Genesis 1:1

 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

God = Elohim [Strong One] in this passage, Godhead (Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Ghost)      John 1:1-4

Earth         >>>    Matter

God is outside of Time, Space, and Matter. He is not restricted by Time, Space or Matter.


"In Beginning" : Precedes time itself

The "Glue" that holds the nucleus of every atom together from repelling apart.

Isaiah 45:7
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

Yeah.... this verse in Isaiah will make you think. That is why it is important to study(2 Timothy 2:15).

The Angels sang while God created the earth
Job 38:4-7

⁴ Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
⁵ Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
⁶ Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

sons of God : bene ha ’elohim  (in reference to a created being)

3 dimensions of Heavens

1^st heaven Daniel 4 - Where Birds fly

2^nd heaven Space / Stars - Psalms 19

3^rd heaven where we will go when we die (if you are saved) 

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.  v.7

Breath, Wind, and Spirit are all the same word in the Hebrew (Ruach)

Breath, Wind, and Spirit are all the same word in the Greek (PNEUMA)

 Helpmeet means “completer”.  v.18

 The Rib actually means “chunk” v.22


Here is another interesting fact: 
Although all bones can repair themselves, ribs can regenerate themselves. Ribs are commonly removed during surgeries that require bone grafts in other parts of the body.

So, Adam missing a Rib is out of the picture.

Tree of Life

 ⁹ And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

The Truth
¹⁵ And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
¹⁶ And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

¹⁷ But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

He died Physically at 930yrs, Before reaching the end of 1 day (1000 days)

Naked???

He died spiritually at that very instant, He realized the Glory of God no longer enveloped them.

²⁵ And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

They were covered with the glory of God. Once they sinned that glory was removed, and they realized that they were lacking, missing that covering, they were exposed.


"Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment"  Psalms 104:2

  The Lie / The Attack

¹ Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

² And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
³ But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
⁴ And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
⁵ For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.


New Age Philosophy introduced by Satan 

1. You are not going to die (Karma/Reincarnation)
2. Your eyes will be opened (Do what you want / Hold back from nothing ) 
3. You will be a god (No accountability / answer to no one )

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

I think too often people overlook this when reading this passage, Adam was with her! Yes, with her, why did he not intervene? She was being attacked by Satan, and he knew the Truth but through his complacency did nothing to stop her, he watched her sin, than did the same. This should be a strong lesson for all of us men.

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Serpent Cursed

 ¹⁴ And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

Is the serpent still cursed in the New Heavens and the New Earth ?

 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.

Promised Messiah

 ¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

her seed? Signifying a Virgin Birth 



Banished, because God Loved them

²³ Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
²⁴ So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

It wasn't till recently that I understood that God banished them out the Garden of Eden to protect them.

God did not want them to live eternally in their sinful state, God had a plan, to send The Redeemer!

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
¹⁷ For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Marriage is instituted

 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

God speaking to Israel [Context]

Malachi 2:13-16 (ESV)

13 And this second thing you do. You cover the Lord's altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor from your hand. 14 But you say, “Why does he not?” Because the Lord was witness between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. 15 Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth. 16 “For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her, says the Lord, the God of Israel, covers his garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.”

Naked

 ²⁵ And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

God's presence covered them in light, when they sinned, His presence left them and when they looked at themselves from that point on they saw each other for who they were.


Psalms 104:1-2
¹     Bless the Lord, O my soul!
    O Lord my God, you are very great!
You are clothed with splendor and majesty,
²     covering yourself with light as with a garment,
    stretching out the heavens like a tent.

   
 Show me Your Glory - Exodus 33:18-20

¹⁸ Moses said, “Please show me your glory.” ¹⁹ And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. ²⁰ But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.”


The Shining Face of Moses - Exodus 34:29-35

²⁹ When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God. ³⁰ Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. ³¹ But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses talked with them. ³² Afterward all the people of Israel came near, and he commanded them all that the Lord had spoken with him in Mount Sinai. ³³ And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face.
³⁴ Whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he would remove the veil, until he came out. I have gotten a man even the Lord (she thought Cain was the one promised to bring salvation).

Cain basically means, acquired  Eve thought that he would be the salvation “I’ve got him” or “here he is.”

Able means: Primarily it means "breath," "light wind;" passes away quickly, fails to satisfy, Vanity/empty

Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Hebrews 9:22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Whenever a subject is first mentioned it often will let you understand the subject in its entirety.

⁷ If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
Now they got what they wanted (to knowing good and evil). Now they must choose to do right.

Enoch:This is a different Enoch than the one mentioned in Genesis 5:24 who is a descendant of Seth.

The Gospel Message in the Genealogy.

I've seen some variations of the translations and meanings of these names, but thought this was pretty neat anyway. 

-----Genesis 6-----

Nephilim / Giants

 ² That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

 sons of God = bənê hāʼĕlōhîm [Sons of Godly beings/powers] In the context of this passage it is referring to 

 fallen angels

sons of God   created heavenly beings
daughters of men  Daughters of Man (Human beings)

Satan was trying to pollute the human race to try and  prevent the promised Messiah from coming by intermingling the fallen angels DNA with human DNA which caused giants in the land, and caused super powered humans, super heroes? This is probably where we get a lot of our "mythological gods" in literature.

Some other viewpoints suggest that these are kings, or descendants of Seth because angels cannot have sex: 


 ^{Matthew 22:30}   
For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

What they fail to notice is  "angels of God in heaven" not the fallen ones

4} For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
⁵ And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;



^{Jude 6}  
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
^{Jude 7} Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Also interesting to note that they "the sons of God" were present and singing when the world was created, kind of hard for a descendant of Seth or a king if they hadn't been created and had no earth to stand on...don't you think?

NOAH
was 600 years old when the Flood came

⁸ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.

⁴ And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

 
Jesus Christ was Crucified on the 14th of Nisan;
In the grave: 3 days;
Resurrection: 17th of Nisan (the “7th month” of the Genesis Calendar)

Noah’s “new beginning” on the Planet Earth was on the anniversary — in anticipation of our —
“new beginning” in Christ!

 The Ark came to rest where?

⁴ And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

Mountains of Ararat   >   Plural   >  Meaning more than one

Mt. Ararat in Turkey  >  Singular >  Meaning one (however there is a little Ararat beside it)

If you pay close attention to Genesis 11:2 you will notice that after they left the Ark they traveled West (from the East) to Babel/Babylon. If They were in turkey they would have had to travel south to get to Babel/Babylon.

 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

They Journeyed west to Babylon. So the Noah's Ark is not in the mountains of Turkey but in the Mountains of Iran.

 A Covenant

A sovereign proclamation made by God, which puts Him into a relationship of responsibility with either: a man, a family, or a nation.

To understanding the flow of the bible follow the covenants trough is a key way to get a handle on the unfolding drama of redemption.

Covenants are marked by a “sign”: 
(1) Edenic: 
(2) Adamic: 
(3) Noahic: Rainbow 
(4) Abrahamic:Circumcision 
(5) Mosaic: Sabbath 
(6) Davidic: Son.

(8) The New Covennan: 

Most Covenants are unconditional (God only)

Some are Conditional (God will do His part. We have to do ours)

1. The Edenic Covenant [conditional]  -  Gen. 1:26-31;2:16-17, 

          Ushered in the Dispensation of Innocence

Seven Conditions
 1. To Replenish the Earth v.28
 2. To Subdue the Earth v.28

 3. To have Dominion Over the Animal v.26
 4. To Restrict Themselves to a "green herb for meat." v.29
 5. To Till the Garden in which God had placed him. (ch.3 v.17-18 Thorns also and thistles after the curse)
 6. To Abstain From Eating of the "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil." ch.2 v.17
 7. The punishment of disobedience, was Physical Depth.  ch.2 v.17

2. The Adamic Covenant [unconditional] -  Gen. 3:14-19   

          Ushered in the Dispensation of Conscience

Curses and  a Promise. 
 1. Curse to the Serpent. 
 2. Curse upon the Woman.- multiply thy sorrow, husband shall rule over thee.
 3. Curse upon the Man.-Ground cursed, in sorrow and by the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat.

 Promised Messiah "Seed" of the Woman should bruise the "Serpent's" head. 

3. The Noahic Covenant [unconditional]  -  Gen 9:1-27  

          Ushered in the Dispensation of Human Government

 Contains the following provisions.

1. That God would not curse the ground any more, nor destroy all the living. And that the "day", "night" and "seasons"    should not cease.
2. That Noah and his descendants were to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth.
3. That they should have dominion over the animal creation as before.
4.That from that time they were not to be restricted to a "vegetable" diet, but could eat meat if they drained the blood from   it. Vs. 3-4.
5. The law of "Capital Punishment" was established. v.6. 
6. That the earth shall never again be destroyed by water of a flood.

4. The Abrahamic Covenant [unconditional] -  Genesis 17:9-14, Genesis 12:1-4 

          Ushered in the Dispensation of the Family

 Contains seven promises
1." I Will Make of Thee a Great Nation."  
2." I Will Bless Thee." 
3." Make Thy Name Great."
4." Thou Shalt Be a Blessing."
5." I Will Bless Them That Bless Thee." 
6." And Curse Him That Curseth Thee."
7." In Thee Shall All the Families of the Earth Be Blessed, "

 This Covenant has not yet been made. It is to be made with Israel after they get back to their own land.

The same way we have to have faith looking back to the cross, the people in Old Testament had to have faith looking forward to the cross. 

Pitched a tent gives the idea that we are pilgrims, sojourners. (No mention of him doing that in Egypt).

The word “altar” is the idea of worship.

Whenever you find yourself in Egypt > Rev 2:5 Remember, Repent, and Repeat

Jerusalem is the Fig tree(the emblem of Israel).   A.D. 70 it was destroyed > May 14,1948 reestablished came back to life blossomed.

A generation can be 40years, or 100 years, or 70 years.

¹⁶ But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

God gave the Amorites 400 years to repent before he put them out of their misery.

Often we wounder why God had the Israelites go in and annihilate people. We fail to see that God is merciful and that he often has given them the change to turn towards Him but they did not.

v.11  “Angel of the LORD” (First mentioned) Messenger  Jesus Christ Before He came to earth as a baby.

When a phrase is used for the first time it will often be a key to understanding that phrase or subject.

They worship Him.  Angels refuse to be worshipped.

was studying this and thought it was worth mentioning.
 The letter ה "Heh" or "Hey" or "H"(however you want to pronounce it) in the Hebrew alphabet has a numerical value of 5.
ה "Heh" means: Hands lifted up, open window it Implies: Look, Reveal, Breath, Breeze,Wind,or Spirit
Now to what i found to be so neat.....In Genesis 17 God changed the name of Abram to Abraham, and Sarai to Sarah. Notice the "H" was added into their names. Also..... The "H" (Hey) has a numerical value of 5 and 5 is the number of Grace.
So, here is the thought: By Gods Grace(5), The "Heh" (breath/Spirit) was inserted into their names, Signifying the presence of the Spirit of God in their lives.

Romans 4:9-12   Abraham ---circumcision as a sign, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith

Genesis 18:1 The Heat of the day in the bible is often a picture of the fiery trials or hard times that come our way.

Lot was sitting in the gate, Leaders would sit in the gate, Lot had become a leader in this sinful city.

After Abraham messed up 2 times doing the same thing God calls him His prophet.

Are you a thinker or a prayer?

A False witness: Giving the right information with the wrong implication.

v.13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.

May have happened more than the 2 times, mentioned in the Bible.

v.16 And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is [should be] to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved [= Vindicated] (I don’t blame you).

Why not Husband? May be because he was not acting like a husband, he was acting more like a brother.

Even though Abraham could not preach to, or share with Abimelech. He was told by God to pray for Abimelech.

Whenever a new name is given it is always by revelation.

 

Send The flesh away empty handed

Genesis 21:14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
As rich as Abraham was why did he only give bread, and a bottle of water to Hagar and Ishmael and then send them on their way?


In Galatians 4:22-31 Paul refers to this story as an allegory to our flesh.

Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.

Galatians 5:16-17 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

3 things can be pointed out from this section.

*Indication of Abraham's faith > And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.Gen 21:13 God had promised that He would be a great Nation.
*Illustrates what we need to do with our flesh > Cut it off/sent it away, do not feed it.[give it only the water(Spirit) and Bread(Word of God)]. Reminds me of what Jesus did during His temptation: Fasted, intimacy with the Spirit (water) and responded to satan with the Word (Bread).
*Illumination about our failure > Just as it hurt Abraham to have to sent Ishmael away (in Gen 21:11), The repercussions of our sins will hurt us when we have to send away/cut off the fruits of when in our flesh we try to "help" God out(even when it seems rational to us).

Funny note also is that Hagar was an Egyptian, and Egypt in the Bible usually is a picture of the world. So, while they were in the world they took baggage from the world, later started thinking like the world, then acted upon their thoughts as the world.

Love (1st Mentioned) v.2

² And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

Issac was around 33 years old.

In Jerusalem Temple Mount, Mount of Olives on East, Calvary just North.


 ⁸ And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

Communion

I never realized before that Mount Moriah was the name given to a mountain range that later was where the Temple was built, and in same region where Calvary or Golgotha was (or) would be. Where God provided the Lamb the perfect sacrifice for our place.

Mount Moriah > where God told Abraham to offer his son Isaac. LORD provided a sacrifice in place of Isaac. Jehovah-jireh (YHWH will provide)

The word Moriah(meaning=ordained/considered by God) is used only twice:

Genesis 22:2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”

2 Chronicles 3:1a Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David.

Interesting how God provided a ram(meaning: exalted; strength) to "save" Issac. And he provided The perfect Lamb(meaning: Innocent) to save us.

Genesis 22:14 So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”

it will be provided[has been provided].

A couple of other interesting thing we often overlook is that to Abraham, Isaac was dead when he was told to sacrifice his son, they journeyed 3 day (Jesus was dead 3 days). Isaac was around 30-33 yrs of age, and the bible does not say that Isaac went back with them (Abraham and his servants). In fact Isaac is not mentioned again till the father sends his servant to find a Bride for his son. The bride accepts to be married to someone she has never seen, but believes the message of the servant. [Digest that for a while].

Sarah is the only woman in the entire Bible where her age is given.

They were in Hebron (Means: Fellowship)

Machpelah means "double doors" signification may be the passing through one door out the other into eternity.

Abraham sent His servant to go and find a bride(Rebekah), Her brother/family kept wanting her to stay, She heard about Isaac, believed about Isaac, Loved without ever even seeing Isaac, And was anxious to leave and be with Isaac. Isaac was meditating (Jesus is interceding for us) the bride arrives and goes into the tent of Sarah with Isaac to consummate the marriage.
When you read Chapter 24 looking at it as a picture into the New Testament it is pretty amazing!!!

Keturah  (Incense/Fragrance. Sacrifice)

I find it interesting that she is overlooked a lot by people.

v.1 Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah (Means: Incense). 20 years after Sarah died he remarried.

Also something I recently discovered when you look at 1 Chronicles 1:32

Now the sons of Keturah, Abraham's concubine: she bare Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. And the sons of Jokshan; Sheba, and Dedan.

Concubine Definition: a woman who lives with a man but has lower status than his wife or wives. a mistress.

The passage would suggest that he elevated her from his concubine into becoming his wife.

I can't help but reflect upon the meaning of the names here and see the grief that he must have experienced by loosing Sarah, and how deep his lover for her was rooted into his heart.

One other interesting note is that none of the 6 sons mentioned here are never mentioned in the New Testament. Only Ishmael (born after the flesh) and Isaac (born according to the promise) are mentioned again in new testament in several passages but I'm just going to focus on Galatians for now.

23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
